The Position – Consultant Radiation Oncologist

Consultant Radiation Oncologist required for locum or perm role in Geelong, Victoria starting ASAP until December 2024. Overview of the role below but should you require further information this can be provided.

• Direct the care of patients with oncologic disorders
• Manage inpatients and outpatients at Barwon Health with oncologic disorders according to local, national and international guidelines
• Supervise advanced trainees in radiation oncology and hospital medical officers
• Participate in the on-call roster for radiation oncology
• Liaise and provide clinical advice with other hospital clinicians, allied health and community physicians
• Ensure all work is completed proficiently and accurately in accordance with Barwon Health policies and procedures
• Ensure that patients are appropriately triaged on at least a weekly basis and provide advice and direction to reception staff as needed to ensure that patients are booked appropriately
• Provide direct inpatient and outpatient care to patients with oncologic disorders including offsite clinics as required
• Provide clinical leadership and supervision to trainees and junior medical staff
• Daily ward rounds, clinics and handover meetings
• Pathology review meeting and multidisciplinary Meetings
• Participation in the afterhours radiation oncology roster
• Regular contact with radiotherapy staff,  reception staff and senior admin staff

Selection Criteria

To be considered for this Locum Consultant Radiation Oncologist, applicants must have Specialist Registration with AHPRA and complete all required paperwork. The below are also are requirement for consideration:

• Basic medical degree, registrable with the Medical Practitioners Board of Victoria.
• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists
• Specialist qualifications recognised through the National Specialist Qualifications Advisory Committee (NSQAC)
• Broad experience in radiation oncology
• Commitment to education, training and quality improvement.
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Time management skills and an ability to prioritise workload
