The Position – Locum Consultant GP

Julanimawu Health Centre – Tiwi Islands require a Locum Consultant GP to help with the following period:

• Previous experience using NT Patient Record System is required due to short notice
• Hours of work are 0800 until 1700 Monday to Friday
• $1800 per rostered day
• Nursing staff respond to any call outs and then will contact the doctor if required
• Work is undertaken in a multi-disciplinary team delivering clinical and public health services to the residents of the Wurrumiyanga community and surrounding outstations.
• Clinical support is provided by the DMO Service and medical retrievals
• Royal Darwin Hospital is the regional hospital and provides tertiary care

• 11th September until 22nd September 2023
• 16th October until 17th October 2023
• 18th December until 9th February 2024

The Location – Julanimawu, Tiwi Islands

The community of Julanimawu (Nguiu) in the Arafura Sea approximately 70km north east of Darwin.  Also known as Nguiu and in the community of Wurrumiyanga.  Accessible via daily Air & Ferry Service from Darwin.  Wurrumiyanga lies on the traditional county of the Tiwi people, on Bathurst Island.

Wurrumiyanga on Bathurst Island is the largest community on the Tiwi Islands with approximately 2000 people. Facilities include two small supermarkets, a take away, a clinic with nurses and a permanent doctor, a police station, a child care centre, a Catholic primary and secondary school, a garage and a Catholic church. The Tiwi People have occupied the islands since at least the last ice age, when the islands were separated from the mainland approximately 11,000 years ago. Selection Criteria

To be considered for this Locum Consultant GP position, applicants must have Specialist Registration with AHPRA and complete all required paperwork.
